Kokuryu Shuzo in Fukui Prefecture has a deep history dating back to 1804. The name "Kokuryu" means "Black Dragon," inspired by the Kuzuryu River that flows near the brewery. They were one of the pioneers in producing Daiginjo sake for the commercial market long before it became popular.
